In this video, I break down the triangle theory and how top players anticipate the next ball using court geometry when initiating attacks off the bounce or out of the air. I show the most common high-level patterns, starting with a righty-to-righty outside-ball speed-up aimed at the opponent’s chicken wing, explaining why the counter usually funnels toward the middle or back to the attacker’s backhand and how partners should close the middle. I also cover a left-side scenario where a high ball is rolled or flicked into the dominant-side/chicken-wing area with the same funneling expectation. Next, I explain an outside backhand initiation attack down the line and why the return typically comes back toward the attacker’s backhand, with the partner supporting the middle. Finally, I demonstrate a backhand flick attack aimed at the opponent’s body to create predictable funnels and set up the next counter.
