1. Hand work
2. Footwork
3. Mind Work
The craziest thing about these pillars is when you are learning you have to learn in the exact opposite order. You play pickleball mind work -footwork - handwork BUT you have to learn in the reserve order (seen above) or else you won’t know what shot to hit once you get to the ball.
Know where to move (mind work)
Actually moving there (footwork)
Hit the shot necessary (hand work)
You start with learning hand work - How to grip the paddle, how tight to hold it, how to swing it, etc.
Then, you move onto footwork - How to move your feet, how to be balanced, how to be positioned for drives, how to be positioned for drops, etc.
Lastly, you move onto mind work - Where to hit the ball, why you hit it there, how to read your opponents, how to anticipate, how to increase your awareness. Etc.
These pillars are crucial to know so that developing your pickleball doesn’t get overwhelming.
You now know it is 1 of these 3 pillars you are developing on a daily basis and you also know the order in which you need to develop them in.
Now go FAIL FIRST, and turn those failures into new knowledge. #mentalskills #pickleball #mindset
