PRICKLED is the first animated half-hour sitcom set in the world of pickleball, an original comedy about the players, personalities, rules, rivalries and absurd little obsessions that come with the fastest-growing game around.
In the official pilot, Harry Bernes is fired one year before retirement, divorced the next day and heads to Arizona looking for a fresh start.
Then he discovers pickleball.
Harry quickly learns that playing the game is the easy part. Understanding pickleball culture is something else entirely.
There’s the kitchen. The two-bounce rule. Dinking. Third-shot drops. Drives. Speedups. Resets. Volleys. Lobs. Ernes. ATPs. Nasty Nelsons. Line calls. Open play. Rec play. Mixed doubles. Ratings. Partners. Paddle obsession. Court etiquette. Competitive players. Recreational players. And an endless supply of unwritten rules nobody bothered to explain.
PRICKLED is a comedy for anyone who plays pickleball, watches pickleball, talks about pickleball, is learning pickleball or lives with someone who has become completely obsessed with it.
If you already play, you’ll recognize the people.
If you’re just starting, you’ll recognize Harry.
And if you’ve ever argued about a line call, stood at the kitchen wondering what you were allowed to do, obsessed over your rating, practiced a third-shot drop or spent way too much time talking about paddles, you’re already living somewhere in the world of PRICKLED.
