If you ever watch any singles play, you'll quickly notice that one of the main things that each player is trying to do to the other is get it to the the opponent's backhand.
Even if a player has a strong backhand, chances are they are not able to be as aggressive with it as the forehand. The mechanics of the forehand simply allow for it to be a more powerful shot than a backhand could every be.
