Countering is crucial when you’re playing aggressive players that repeatedly drive on the 3rd, 5th and 7th shots in pickleball. Simply blocking the ball back will only allow these players to keep attacking. Instead, you have to learn how to counter on your 4th and 6th shots and turn defense into offense. In this video, pro coach Dominic Catalano explains the importance of countering in pickleball today and the keys to executing a good counter, emphasizing anticipation, footwork, and paddle position. Coach Dom also shows how to drill counters with two players and with three players. Lastly coach Dom leads a pro drilling session with three professional pickleball players where he coaches each player and gives technique and strategy tips along the way.
