Hi Everybody its CJ Johnson
I am coming to you from beautiful Lake Tahoe this morning. The lakes pretty quiet so far this morning we might see a couple boats going by but I hope you enjoy the view.
I wanted to talk to you about healthy eating. When I was 38 years old I weighed over 250 pounds and the topic healthy eating was never on my lips or on my mind. I was a junk-food junkie and because I ran multiple hospitality entertainment venues I was eating in restaurants all the time. I had no concept of healthy eating fast forward to today.
I'm 53 years old and have maintained a hundred pound weight loss for really going on 15 years.
So how did that happen?
I think there are really three key things that can help you in your journey whether its weight loss so you're trying to eat a little bit more healthy.
Number one is it's a Journey.
This is not a temporary fix it's a lifestyle and I had to make changes permanent changes in how I ate. If you're thinking that you can get on this or do this plan or grab this fad diet and do it for a little while and then go back to how you were eating before and maintain your weight loss
it's just not realistic. You will need to make changes in how you eat, lifestyle changes. Think of it as a journey.
The second thing is like any journey it usually takes some time.
At least it certainly has for me. I didn't go from where I was then to where I am today overnight it's been a change of habits. Kind of one after another and it wasn’t always dramatic changes. They were just small changes that added up over time.
That's really number three What are the Small Changes you Can Make that Add Up Over Time?
As an example I never cooked. When I was 38 I out of a bag right out of a restaurant right I would maybe microwave something or throw it in the oven that was the extent of my cooking. I don't go from then to eating vegan and doing all of my cooking in just a matter of a month or 10 months or even a year. It has taken me, I went vegan and started that turning about four years ago. It took me 10 years to really learn how to do some cooking to learn how to fuel my body but it was the small changes that added up over time to make me fit and a fairly healthy eater today.
I think if you take those three things in mind. It’s a journey, it’s going to take you some time and that those small changes really do add up over a period of time it makes the process just a little bit more understandable and a little bit more enjoyable.
