More on the Offensive Lob
The offensive NVZ lob has a few advantages:
a. It breaks the stalemate at the non-volley zone. If you pull off the lob, you will gain a potentially decisive advantage in the rally. Your opponents will have to retreat from the kitchen line and will have to work just to get back up with you.
b. Often you can try the NVZ pickleball lob without downside. Unless you are playing excellent ball smashers, it will be difficult for your opponents to finish the rally even if they can get to the lob in the air. Just as long as they have to take 2-3 steps off the line.
c. It will make your opponents uncomfortable. They will not know what you are going to do next and will start to back off the non-volley zone line before you hit the ball. It is always a good thing if you can keep your opponents on edge.
