Can small changes yield big results? Absolutely!
Hi everybody my name is Cathy Jo Johnson but my friends call me CJ.
Most people start out by setting goals setting a ton of goals doing a little bit of work to them and then within a week or two they're back to their old habits. How do you really make some changes that will help you in the long run?
I believe that you set one or two things, make them small and just continue to do them over a period of time. I'm not sure if you've ever seen this book it's a great book it's called The Compound Effect. Darren hardy is the publisher of success magazine and has a tremendous amount of insight into what makes people successful. This is a wonderful book it's almost text like you could go back to it time and time and time again to get better and better at goal setting. Unfortunately I think a lot of people pick this book up try and do too much right out of the gate and then stop and go back to their old ways. Here's a thought on how you can continue and trying to achieve some of your goals. That’s why small changes done over a period of time. In fact he talked about it in the book he uses an example of three friends. They are all about the
same age they're all the same social status nothing really is any different between these three friends,
Friend A is really pretty happy and content with where he is in life so he's not going to make any changes whatsoever.
Friend B wants things to be a little bit different. He looks at his life and he thinks I want to eliminate some of the sugar in my diet get a little healthier. I'm going to stop drinking one soda every single day and that's about a 125 calories a day.
Friend C looks at his life and says you know what I need to enjoy life a little bit more and I'm gonna add a drink of alcohol in there. That's 125 calories every day that he adds to his life.
Now over a six-month period of time do you think that you've seen much change in these three friends? Probably not. Maybe not even after a year or perhaps not even after 18 months but as time goes on that one small change really adds up. Friend A he's still staying in the same place. But after 31 months the results are astounding. 31 months equals 940 days, 940 days x 225 calories a day is 117,000 500 calories divide that by 3,500 calories per pound and guess what Friend B he's lost 33.5 pounds. Isn't that amazing but wait what's the difference between him and Friend C. If you remember friend C started adding a 125 calories a day to his diet. There's a 67 pound difference between those two friends. One loss 33 and a half pounds one gained 33 and a half pounds.
So can small changes make over a period of time make a difference. Absolutely.
If you've set some goals for yourself start out with one or two make them small and hold yourself accountable to those small changes you'll see it add up over a period of time I hope that you can take this information apply it to what you want to do and become even more successful go
